/Have you got your tickets for Splendour Festival yet? Should be a great day of music and sun, in the picturesque Wollaton Park to boot.
This is the Igloo Backpackers Hostel blog. We post about things to do in Nottingham, music, videos… and probably some cat photos.

Mercury winners Alt-J are playing at Rock City tomorrow night! Unsurprisingly, the show is already sold out. So I guess if you don't have tickets already, you might just have to watch the above video (or listen to the full album on Spotify) to get your fix.
Although, if you are a keener, I'm sure you might be able to get lucky and find some tickets for sale outside the venue (there is always one friend in a group who can't make it).
If you've got tickets and are heading down to Rock City, here's the google map walking directions (it's a short little jaunt).
It seems like a good day to head down to Nottingham Contemporary and check out 'The Universal Addressability of Dumb Things' exhibit. Not only is the weather outside a bit 'blah' today, but doesn't this sound pretty cool?
Not only is the exhibit inside, but admission is free. So head on down, check it out, and let us know how it was (here's the google map directions for getting from the Igloo to the Contemporary).
The Dot To Dot Festival is quickly approaching (May 26th to be exact), and you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal than spending £20 on a ticket that grants you access to 14 hours of live music across some of the best venues in Nottingham (featuring a wide arrange of established, up & coming, and soon to be well known bands).
Get more details about this not to be missed event over on the Dot To Dot website.
Rue Royale are playing at Malt Cross tonight. They're a great band and Malt Cross is a beautiful venue for live music. If you've got no plans at the moment, this would be a good choice.
It's been a cracking day out there. Perfect weather for a Bank Holiday Monday. And perfect weather for enjoying a pint on our neighbours excellent roof top terrace. Or maybe some sun tanning in the Arboretum? Or down to the Olde Tripe?
Whatever you chose to do, hope you're all making the most of these rays :)
And hopefully the sun is here to stay!

Well first of all… it is great. If you're at all interested in the history of Nottingham and the story behind the most famous man to ever put on a pair of green tights, then this tour is a must. And to sweeten the pot, people staying at The Igloo get a special discount off the regular price (come see reception about this).
How many chances to you get to walk around with a legend from your child hood (and even share a pint with him at the oldest pub in England)? Not that often we thinks.
Meet Robin Hood and discover the truth of the ‘Hooded Man’! Follow the trail of historical facts and learn how simple ballads over 700 years old grew into one of the greatest stories ever told.
This thorough and fun exploration of the evolution of the legend is told against the back drop of the city. As you visit places associated with Robin Hood, you will also see the town's key sites of interest and learn about its history and culture.
Enter ancient caves beneath the streets. Understand why Nottingham Castle isn’t a castle. Marvel at the stunning architecture of the Lace Market, once lace capital of the world. Shudder in the shadow of the Old County Gaol and find tranquillity in St Mary’s Churchyard.
Landmarks like the Council House, Old Market Square, the Theatre Royal and other, quirky, hidden surprises all await you on this adventure around town. The tour ends at Ye olde Trip to Jerusalem.
Walk Off The Earth are playing at ROCK CITY tonight... and there are quite a few Igloo'rs going. I wonder if they will be busting out their Gotye cover live on just one guitar? Surely they have to, right?
